Can Laser Hair Removal be used to treat extra hair growth for women suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

Yes, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (or polycystic ovary syndrome – PCOS) is a condition in which woman’s hormones are out of balance and this condition can also cause other symptoms such as Hirsutism, excessive growth of hair on the face and body.

How can I prepare for my Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Once you have decided to have Laser Hair Removal you should avoid waxing, plucking, hair removal creams and electrolysis for approximately six weeks prior to our appointment. This allows the laser to specifically target the hairs at the roots and therefore giving the best results possible.

Sun exposure for six weeks pre and post your treatment is not recommended, as it makes hair removal less effective.

What can Laser Hair Removal treat?

Laser Hair Removal can be used to treat ingrown hairs, excessive hormonal hair growth and unwanted hair on the face or body for both men and women.

Q. I'm just wondering how laser hair removal works?

Lasers work by emitting a specific wavelength of light to target the hair follicle at the root.  The pulses of highly concentrated light are emitted from the laser into the hair follicles and the pigment in the follicles absorbs the light, destroying the hair.

Q. I have dark skin, can I get Laser Hair Removal?

Because we use only the most advanced medical grade lasers for our laser hair removal treatments, we can treat medium to darker skin tones

Q. Does it hurt?

One of the benefits of laser hair removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cools your skin before, during and post treatment to minimise any discomfort.

Q. What do I need to do to prepare for my Laser Hair Removal appointment?

Before your appointment, we ask that you

  • Shave the area between 12-24 hours before your treatment
  • Ensure no residue fake tan is present on the skin
  • Do not wax or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment

Q. How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal for maximum effect?

Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment. However between 6-10 treatments are required for a permanent result.

Q. I have blonde hair, can I still get Laser Hair Removal?

Unfortunately, blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair do not respond to treatment. Laser hair removal cannot treat these colours as they do not produce any pigment. Therefore, the laser will not be able to attract hairs of this colour and will essentially miss them.

Q. How long should I go in between Laser Hair Removal appointments?

Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals.

Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.
