This safe, non-invasive treatment utilises ultra-fine crystals to gently exfoliate and resurface the skin one layer at a time. It is suitable for all skin types including Asian or dark skins and improves such conditions as sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, rough skin, age spots, large pores, acne scarring and superficial pigmentations. Not only is it used for the face, it is effective for ingrown hairs on the bikini area, as well as rough elbows, heels and knees.
The outer layer of skin thickens with age and takes longer to shed dead cells, resulting in the appearance of dull skin. The dead skin can combine with oil, leaving the pores congested and enlarged, sometimes causing acne. The congested skin becomes a barrier to the micronutrients in cosmeceuticals applied to you skin.
Microdermabrasion treatments can produce very satisfying results in a short period of time. It is not painful and there is no downtime, but it may be followed by some temporary redness. Treatment may be followed by an infusion of vitamins or moisturising nutrients with a therapeutic masque to make your face feel fresh and smooth.
It is a good alternative to chemical peels or laser treatments for those who don't want to put off outdoor activities in the sun.
For optimal results, a progressive series of treatments is recommended , each lasting from 30 to 45 minutes which should be done once a week for a period of 4 to 6 weeks or more.
The treatment is administered through a hand held suction device that delivers a fine mist of micro crystals under pressure to gently nourish and exfoliate the skin revealing plumper, younger cells. For darker skins we use a diamond coated head with a vacuum piece to gently abrade the outermost layer of skin. This stimulates the production of collagen and enables moisturizing products to penetrate the skin.
This procedure may be combined in a program with other treatments, such as IPL skin rejuvenation or facial peels for deeper dermal pigmentation.
Warning: Microdermabrasion should not be used where there are broken capillaries, or when Retinols, Retin A or Roaccutane are being used.
