How does Fraxel work?

Fraxel is an advanced technology – but how it works shouldn’t be a mystery. Here are some details on the treatment and the science behind it. Remember, every patient’s circumstances are different, so for specifics, it’s best to talk to your Cosmetic Image Clinics directly.

How Fraxel fits.

Fraxel is for people who want to look good – and want real results – but don’t want the overly change or extended downtimes that comes with surgery. Fraxel fits into any lifestyle and your current beauty regimen:

  • Non-invasive and can be easily managed into your routine
  • Real change you just can’t get from lotions and creams
  • Simple, effective treatment that really slow the signs of ageing

How does a Fraxel 1550/1927 treatment work?

Fraxel 1550/1927 laser treatment targets ageing and sun-damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin to expedite your body’s remodelling of collagen. And since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing. Fraxel 1550/1927 treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.

Fraxel and you.

Most of us wish we could slow down the effects ageing has on our looks – and maybe even get a few years back in the process. Fraxel® is proven laser technology that can help reverse the visible effects of ageing, naturally helping you look as young as you feel. With Fraxel, change isn’t drastic or scary – it’s you, just younger.

Fraxel is effective on:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles – like crow’s feet and brow lines
  • Surface scarring – improving effects of acne and other scarring
  • Pigmentation – minimising the appearance of age spots
  • Sun damage – help heal the damage caused by sun exposure
  • Actinic Keratosis (AK) – a common pre-cancerous skin condition

Most patients see the best results with 1-5 Fraxel treatments

Fraxel works with your body’s skin cells, so results typically take 1-3 weeks to take effect. Click here to see real patient Before & After photos ••

Most Fraxel patients report the sensation of a “light sunburn” immediately after treatment, but treatment plans can vary, so ask your practitioner about the specifics of your treatment.

How is a Fraxel treatment different from other laser skin rejuvenation procedures?

Traditionally, two kinds of laser treatment have been available for cosmetic skin treatment: ablative and non-ablative. Typical ablative treatments, which use a high temperature to vaporize unwanted tissue, can be effective—but with significant side effects and several weeks of recovery time. Non-ablative treatments, meanwhile, have very few side effects and low downtime, but they commonly require numerous treatments to produce more modest results.

Fraxel laser treatment delivers the potency of ablative treatments with the faster recovery time of non-ablative laser. So you get the best of both worlds: dramatic results and less downtime.

What should I expect after a Fraxel 1550/1927 treatment?

During the first 24 hours after a treatment, your skin may feel as though it is sunburned, and it will appear pink or red. You can wear make-up to reduce the sunburned appearance. Your skin will naturally bronze over the next week or two, and as you continue treatment, the sunburned-to-bronzed appearance will repeat. As with a sunburn, your skin will flake and exfoliate normally. Use a moisturiser to reduce the appearance of dry flakes.
