How many treatments will I require?
As each patient is different it is not possible to completely predict how many treatments you will need, but to achieve the best results you should have multiple treatments, which usually occur every 2-3 weeks. After your initial consultation your clinician will advise you the recommended number of treatments required.
Are there any side effects?
There are very few reports of any side effects after Laser Microdermabrasion the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Mild exfoliation is common within the first few days after your treatment. In some cases when acne and cysts have been treated you may encounter redness of the skin and small scabs may form, do not pick any of the scabs if this occurs.
What can I expect on the day of my Laser Microdermabrasion treatment?
On the day of your treatment you will need to remove any make-up or moisturizers and, in some cases, you may be asked to shave the area to be treated. You will not require numbing cream or other forms of anaesthetic.
What should I do prior to my treatment?
Prior to your Laser Microdermabrasion treatment it is essential that you avoid sun exposure (this includes tanning beds), use an SPF 30+ sunblock when you do venture outside. Your clinician may also recommend you using some specialised skin care products for up to 8 weeks prior to your treatment (darker skin types), this will be discussed at your initial consultation.
What should I do after my treatment?
After your treatment you should cleanse and moisturise your skin twice a day. Avoid exposure to the sun for two days after your treatment (this includes tanning beds), use an SPF 30+ sunblock when you do venture outside. Do not use Retinoid (Vitamin A), Glycolic or Alpha Hydroxy acid products two days after your treatment, unless otherwise directed.
